About the artist
Bob Moody has been painting in transparent watercolor for over 40 years, first commercially as a graphic designer for R.G. LeTourneau in Dallas, Texas, and then as an artist for NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. He is retired and recently served on Mountain Brook City Council after owning an architectural design business in Alabama specializing in historic restoration for over 30 years.
Many of his design projects were published and he was awarded a prestigious “Southeast Designer of the Year 1998” for a corporate project by the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. His design work has been featured in Contract Magazine and his watercolors featured in Southern Accents Magazine. He’s received numerous design awards including a Silver Medal/Auburn University, annual historic preservation awards 1986-1999 from the Birmingham Historical Society, and an IIDA 1999 Merit Award.
His watercolors are in many private and public collections and his interior renderings have been published in many local and national trade publications. Moody’s watercolor of Normandy was included in a juried American Watercolor Society exhibition. His work for NASA as head of future projects in the commercial art department was published in such major publications as Time, Life, and Paris Match. Moody has also been a featured artist in Watercolor Magazine, a subsidiary of American Artist Magazine. He was recently featured in a local publication, Over the Mountain Journal.
He was asked to personally present the first copy of his book, The Church Triumphant, to Queen Elizabeth and The Archbishop of Canterbury, at the 50th celebration of the Historic Churches Preservation Trust at St. Bartholomew’s Church followed by a reception in 2003 at The Haberdashers Livery Hall.
